THE TS3 IS DEADLY...ACCURATE

The Titleist TS project was geared up towards improving the range’s head speed, they have toyed with everything to ensure speed and forgiveness came back in to their stock selling points. Although the focus of the manufacturers has shifted to extra yards on their drivers there is still great value in having an accurate 3-wood in your bag.

The Titleist TS3 3-wood boasts an array of technical aspects that make it better than its predecessors. The speed chassis was designed to make the club faster, and whilst the head shape isn't much different than previous Titleist models, the lighter crown and thinner face create a "hotter" 3-wood. The Active Recoil Channel 3.0 makes it more forgiving too.

At our Titleist fitting day we settled on the specs for that club; 15° loft with the ProjectX HAZRDUS Smoke 70 gram 6.0 in the A-1 hosel position, and we set the 2g toward the toe. I headed out to range to test our preferred set-up, it was certainly the best of the various options we tried but I'll be honest, I wasn't blown away.

The Titleist TS3 3-wood arrived late 2018 and has been in the bag ever since. Whilst the fitting session didn’t knock my socks off, the on-course results have been nothing short of amazing.

Most eagles in an amateur’s game come at ‘gettable’ par 5’s, and since the TS3 has been in play I have had more looks at an eagle than ever before, my fairway hit % has increased and the driver has taken a back seat. The combo of distance and accuracy blew me away.

When I want to go long the tendency I have is to leak right, the TS3 3-wood has come to my rescue; accuracy off the tee if the hole is narrow, long off the fairway for looks at eagle and its only a little shorter than my driver.

If you are a Titleist loyalist you are going to absolutely love this club, it has the great compact 3-wood aesthetics you've enjoyed from Titleist for years, but it now brings added technology to have them beating the competition. This might not be the absolute longest 3-wood I've hit, but that is ok, since I want a club to fill the yardage gap between my driver and hybrid as well as being accurate.

The sound and feel are 100% Titleist with a very pleasing crack at impact. The ProjectX HAZRDUS Smoke shaft has a firm and stable feel without getting rigid. It feels just a little smoother than a HAZRDUS Black.

Not only did Titleist make a faster (longer) 3-wood, they also made it deadly accurate. Titleist have raised the bar for themselves with the TS project, and simultaneously raised the bar for every other manufacturer.
